Dear Brandt Residents,

It has been a great year, but it is time for you all to begin to move out for the summer :) It is the Residential Life Staff's hope that we can make this a quick and easy process for you. For this reason, we are piloting a new online sign-up system. In past years, students have had to track down their RA and find a mutual time that works for both of you. We have now made finding a time easier.

RAs will be available to check students out beginning on May 8th (Last Day of Classes) and continuing until May 16th. You must be out of the hall by noon on May 16th or within 24 hours of your last final, whichever comes first. When you pick a checkout time, it is important for you to know that this time should be the time when your room will be as clean as the day you moved in. All of your belongings should be out of the building, trash should be removed, drawers and closets should be cleaned out, and you will be ready to leave the building by turning in your keys. You may want to coordinate this time with whomever is giving you a ride. The website allows you to change your scheduled checkout time should something come up; however, please do not change your checkout time within 24 hours of the original time you signed up for. RAs will be printing their checkout schedules once every 24 hours.

At this time, the RA will go through the Room Condition Report you two filled out when you moved in. If there are any damages to the room that were not indicated on the form, you will be billed for them. At the end of the checkout process, I will go back through each room and will verify that the charges applied were fair and that no additional charges are necessary. You will receive a letter over the summer about any damages for which you are responsible.

Additionally, it is important for you to know that should you fail to checkout with a staff member before you leave or if you are not ready at your scheduled appointment time, you could face a $25 fine. Failure to turn in your keys to the staff will result in a $30 lock change.
